Verizon’s Lumia 928 to Come in Colorful Aluminum Shell, Battle Galaxy S4
A leaked screenshot of Verizon Wireless’ inventory system suggests that the carrier’s next high-end Nokia Lumia 928 smartphone, which is rumored to include the same PureView imaging technology from rival AT&T’s Nokia Lumia 920, will come in a variety of colors. The computer terminal shows that the Lumia 928 will come in cyan, red, black, and white.
With four color options, AT&T still has an extra color in the form of yellow for the Lumia 920 flagship; However, according to a leak earlier this week, Verizon’s Lumia 928 will come an aluminum shell, an upgrade from the unibody polycarbonate body that Nokia has used since the debut of the the company’s Lumia series Windows Phone.
The Lumia 928 has been known in the past by its code name of Laser.
And according to iTechPost, another upgrade from the Lumia 920 on AT&T is that the Lumia 928 is now believed to have a single LED flash along with a single Xenon flash, rather than the dual LED flash modules. Using Xenon would allow the camera to freeze motion resulting in a crisper image captured in dark environments. Additionally, Xenon flash renders colors more accurately and is believed to be brighter than LED flash technology currently employed on camera phones.
Internally, specs for the Lumia 928 will resemble that of the Lumia 920. Both devices will have a 4.5-inch 1280 X 768-pixel display. It’s unclear if the Lumia 928 will continue using the touchscreen tech that allows users to operate the touchscreen while wearing non-specialized gloves, which is a benefit to Lumia 920 owners who live in colder climates.
The Lumia 928 will also have a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor, 2 GB RAM, and pack 4G LTE.
It’s unclear at this time, if rumor of Nokia moving to an aluminum enclosure is true, if the Lumia 928 will be able to handle wireless charging. When HTC moved to the unibody aluminum enclosure for the HTC One, the company had to forego wireless charging technology on that phone.
If all these recent rumors surrounding the Verizon Lumia 928 hold true, then the Lumia 928 may be Nokia’s most feature rich Windows Phone to date.
Additionally, it seems that Verizon may be pitting Nokia’s flagship Lumia smartphone against Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S4 as both devices are now rumored to be launched at the same time, or at least close to each other.
