Wacom Bamboo Stylus to Hit US in May for $30

Published

on

When we posted about the Wacom Bamboo Stylus for capacitive touch screen devices becoming available quite a few folks balked at the $41 price tag. That was a conversion of the Euro price and keep in mind the device was announced in Europe for release there.

Well, now we know the Wacom Bamboo Stylus will be hitting the US in mid-May at a price tag of $29.99. Some may still find that a bit steep, but it is certainly better than $41.

You Yanks and Canucks should ignore all quoted EU and especially UK prices and wait for the US price to be known.

In Rip-off Britain we pay over the odds for most IT stuff, hard or soft. In earlier days of laptops/notebooks, there were even instances of the US price being converted by changing the currency symbol only from $ to £, so a $1,800 device became £1,800. This defied all ‘logic’ such as ‘exchange rates’, ‘freight charges’, ‘lower volume/demand’ etc.

I don’t travel to or through the US often, but when I do, I do my utmost to buy quality stuff by having it delivered to my transit hotel or client office. A non-IT example is the excellent range of Redoxx bags, more expensive than others, but real quality. It also helps me avoid UK VAT (sales/purchase tax) charges.
