For those that have been around the Tablet PC space from the very early days, Sierra Modro is someone you have come to know, trust, and respect. I came to know Sierra through our working together on TabletPCBuzz.com, and got to know her more through various conferences and meet-ups we would attend. I’ve always appreciated the depth, insightfulness, and enthusiasm that Sierra brings to her posts and articles, and the help she is able to bring to other users. Most folks don’t know that Sierra worked at Intel, impacting the ultra-mobile and tablet pc space from the inside-out.
I am ecstatic to announce that Sierra is bringing her expertise and enthusiasm for the Tablet PC space to Team GBM as a Contributing Writer. You’ll get to know Sierra well over the coming months. Until then, join me in welcoming her to Team GBM, and you can learn more about her background below:
Sierra Modro is a long time member of the Tablet PC community, starting back in 2003 on TabletPCBuzz and then moving over to GottaBeMobile when it started.
With 15 years of experience in computer hardware and software, Sierra has a broad technical background. She started getting involved in mobile computing with the IBM “Butterfly” 701C and the first Palm Pilot and never stopped upgrading and searching for the next great thing. When Tablet PCs were first announced, she had to have one of the first models and has eagerly tracked all of the innovations in the industry.
Professionally, Sierra was employed by Intel until 2006, most recently working on mobile technical evangelism for them. In that role she got the opportunity to spread the word about the benefits and features of tablet computing to anyone who would listen, including teaching the first ever Tablet PC class at the Intel Developer Forum in 2006. Most recently Sierra has been working at Digimarc on digital watermarking solutions.
In her spare time, Sierra is currently attending graduate school getting a Master of International Management business degree to complement her technical experience.
Sierra lives in the Portland, OR, area with David, her husband of 4 years. She enjoys singing, traveling, and working on her home theater when away from her gadgets. Which isn’t often.
