We’re a GO for Slingplayer With Retracted AT&T TOS Change

Published

on

So that didn’t last long…   AT&T has retracted the changes I posted about earlier today.   Engadget has the details:

The language added on March 30 to AT&T’s wireless data service Terms and Conditions was done in error. It was brought to our attention and we have since removed it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I guess I can now get excited about hooking up my Slingbox Pro to my iPhone again now… or until they update the TOS the next time for good!

Perhaps the strike has them distracted? It’s imminent…had my DSL connected today and the tech said I was his last customer pre-strike. They’ve closed our local office in anticipation. Email me if you want more details.

I’m disgusted at Sling that they conveniently are dropping support for the Slingplayer Classic just in time for the iPhone player launch. I dont have the cash for a new box, and they are forcing you to do so if you want iPhone compatibility. VERY lame!!!

Oh, and thanks for the $50 “upgrade” credit Sling, that forces you to buy it from your site, which of course sells at full MSRP. You can get it cheaper through Amazon without the rebate. The right thing to do here would have been to have a $50 MIR regardless of where you buy the new unit.

The writing in that TOS was too specific to be an accident! They are either testing the waters or have future plans to put that in and just accidentally did so early. It’s not like it was a misspelling or just a few erroneous words – it was a whole paragraph. And I might add, it is completely what they want so that they can either charge extra for that bandwidth or force you to one of their services that would provide that content for extra cost. They oppose net neutrality and that shows in their words and actions.
