Have you ever wanted to stream audio from your computer to the home theater system across your house? Sure, you can get dedicated systems to do this, but if you have an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad all you need is WiFi2HiFi, a $4 app that turns your iOS device into a receiver for your computer’s audio.
The WiFi2HiFi app works with Mac OS X 10.6, Windows Vista and Windows 7 and requires a small app run on your computer. With this app you can access much more music than would typically fit on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
This is handy for simply taking your music collection to another room, or for providing the tunes for a party without the need to leave your iPhone out in the open. Stash it behind your receiver, set up a collection of music on your PC and let the party go.
In addition to these benefits, the WiFi2HiFi app will stream whatever audio is playing on your PC or Mac, allowing you to play music from websites or services that don’t work on the iPhone or iPod Touch. The app will work on the iPad at iPhone resolution, but that shouldn’t be an issue since this app is about music, now about looks.
