Remember that conversation I started the other day about low cost computers affecting the high-end market? Loren Heiny points out some interesting potential news on the Ultra-Mobile PC front from Everex. If you haven’t been following the news lately, Everex has created quite a stir by introducing a $198 Linux box that is being sold through Wal-Mart. They are also working on a $300 notebook and according to this PCWorld report, they have their sights set on UMPCs and other mobile devices as well.
Loren says he is getting concerned about Microsoft in all of this, and he is right to be. The signs are all around them.
