Windows Mobile 6.5 Not Doing Well in Reviews

Published

on

500x_homesI guess this shouldn’t be surprising with every one from Steve Ballmer on down saying that Windows Mobile 6.5 is like an ugly stepchild compared to the promise of  Windows Mobile 7, but the boo-birds are out for Windows Mobile 6.5, now that it is released. It is one of the great mysteries of mobile computing as to why this has even been released.

I’m not using a WinMo phone at present so I have no way to check it out, so if you are using Windows Mobile 6.5 let us know what you think.

Here’s a list of some pretty scathing reviews.

Well, that’s why I wouldn’t want to buy a WinMo phone now. My next phone will be either a Nokia with Maemo or a whatever brand with WinMo 7. iPhone, no thanks, too limited options, it was great one or two years ago, but now and in the future, there will be better alternatives available, also it’s way too expensive for the tiny things it offers, and WebOS, just as iPhone OS, it doesn’t offer me the things I would like.

Sad, that MS needs that long for WinMo 7, because time is running and the longer they wait the harder it will be to gain market share again.

I have no faith in Microsoft that Windows Mobile 7 is going to be anything to write about…they might surprise me, but i’m not holding my breath….WM 6.5 is like the now infamous phrase…lipstick on a pig…there are better options out there for smartphones….and Windows Mobile has seen the last of my money…

I’ve used WM 6.5 on a few devices (Samsung Omnia, HTC Touch Pro, and others) over the last 6 months or so and while it’s not as pretty as Android or the iPhone OS it’s hardly an Epic Fail. After all this is just an incremental upgrade, and in that context WM 6.5 is just fine. What is confusing to me is that these reviews are from people in the tech world that should know better. How could they be “surprised” by an operating system which has been intentionally leaked by Microsoft for a long time now…
