Today during Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 launch event CEO Steve Ballmer announced Windows Phone 8 will come to market in Europe this weekend, and will roll out to U.S. carriers throughout the month of November
Microsoft will leave the announcement of individual phone release dates up to carriers, saying only they will come to Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T in November.
Verizon will carry the HTC WIndows Phone 8X, Nokia Lumia 822, and the newly announced Samsung ATIV Odyssey. T-Mobile will carry the HTC Windows Phone 8X, and the Nokia Lumia 810. AT&T will offer the Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 820, and HTC Windows Phone 8X.
T-Mobile Windows Phone 8
Earlier this morning T-Mobile announced the Nokia Lumia 810 and HTC Windows Phone 8X will come to its network on November 14. The HTC Windows Phone 8X will cost $199.99 on a Classic two-year contract, and $149.99 on a Value Plan. The Nokia Lumia 810 will cost $149.99 on a Classic Plan, and $99.99 on a Value Plan.
Verizon Windows Phone 8
Verizon will offer the 16GB version of the HTC Windows Phone 8X for $199. The Nokia Lumia 822 will sell for $49 on the carrier. On stage Ballmer would only say the phones will come out by Thanksgiving with no specific release date. Recent rumors said the phones will come to Verizon stores on November 12.
The Verizon Samsung Odyssey will come to the carrier sometime in December. Microsoft didn’t provide a price for the phone, and only offers a wire frame silhouette of the device on screen. A full announcement will likely come in the next few weeks.
AT&T Windows Phone 8
Recent rumors said the Nokia Lumia 920 will release on AT&T on November 11. The rumor made no mention of the Nokia Lumia 820 or HTC Windows Phone 8X, which will likely come to the carrier on the same day relatively close to the date.
Best Buy currently offers the Windows Phone 8X for pre-order on AT&T for $99.99 for the 8GB version. The Lumia 920 pre-order is no longer available, but it cost $149.99 when it was available.
There was no mention of the Samsung ATIV S coming to the U.S.
