Windows Phone Mango September 1st Release Date ‘Just A Rumor’
Much like Samsung did with their rumored devices that popped up yesterday, Microsoft is going public with a denial about that rumored September 1st release date for their upcoming software, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.
If you recall, several sources had pegged September 1st as the launch date of Mango which stirred up much excitement amongst the Windows Phone faithful.
Not so fast says Joe Belifiore, who just so happens to be the corporate vice president and director of Windows Phone Program Management. In a statement on Twitter, Belifiore says that that September 1st release rumor is just that, a rumor.
Now, he could be throwing off our scent but when a company goes public like this, it’s usually a sign that whatever was reported was off and we are inclined to think that September 1st is probably not going to happen. and I’ve got one reason if you wish to hear it.
Why on earth would they try and coincide a launch with the launch of Apple’s next iPhone? It’s rumored to be getting announced on September 7th and a September 1st launch of Mango would be deadly.
That being said, it’s also possible that September 1st is still launch day, I just wouldn’t count on it.
