The Next “Tablet PC” ?

Let’s see.

  • Full 8.5×11″ readable? Yes.
  • Touchscreen? Yes.
  • Less than 1 pound? Definitely!
  • Note taking capability? Looks like yes.

Unfortunately I’ll have to wait until next year to get it. This device from Plastic Logic may not have a name yet, but lots of people are very interested already.

If anyone still remembers is lovely NECĀ  VersaPro VY11F/GL-R (11mm thick, 1.8 lbs), this lovely e-ink device looks like the spiritual successor. With an expectation of WiFi, touchscreen, and USB connectivity, this could be a very versatle device indeed. It felt far less than 1 lb and around 0.25 inch thick. Wow. Anticipated availablity early next year.

  1. Now this excites me!

    Steve

  2. *Still* using my VY11 after all this time… No other tablet with the thickness of a notepad has been released in the intervening 4 years… {Sigh}

  3. Wow! So many neat note-taking stuff at CES! Were you able to get some hands-on time with this?

    And what’s the word on the developer of this thing? What are their tablet pc credentials?

  4. Now that’s a WOW factor!

  5. Did you notice if it had a video out? I’d love this type of device, but I need to plug into projectors to teach my classes. No matter what, this is exciting news for a tablet geek like myself.
