iPad Tip of the Day: Syncing multiple calendars

By  |  2 Comments

The iPad is here to stay and with that a whole slew of reviews, articles, and first impressions are going up all over the web.  Well, for those who have one of these new devices, a quick tip to make your usage a whole lot easier.

A lot of people, me included, have multiple calendars in which to track our days.  I have one for home, one for work, one for my fiance schedule, etc..etc.  I use Spanning Sync to sync all my calendars to iCal and then it syncs via iTunes onto my iPod Touch.  And then, it also syncs to my G1.  Ok, its a bit much, but I get lost without my calendars.  Well, it turns out that on the new iPad, there is an issue.  Currently, users can only sync one calendar to the iPad.  This isnt a good thing.  So, what can you do?  Luckily, Kevin Tofel over at JKontheRun, was able to find an answer via the MacRumors Forum.

Here is the fix (abbreviated version):

  • Enable the Safari debug on your Mac  (via Safari Preferences)
  • Set the user agent to iPhone 3.13
  • Go to
  • Turn off JavaScript
  • Select your iPad device
  • Select your calendars (it should work)
  • Disable/re-enable your calendars through the Exchange account you established on the iPad
  • And that’s it

Kevin’s post has the accompanying screenshots for each of these steps.  Thanks to all the MacRumor Forum and Google Help forum folks for starting off the iPad support system the right way.

A 15-year veteran of the tech wars, Amy is a gadgetgrrl from way back. Amy is started with the her first PDA, a Palm Pilot III all the way through her current sidearm, a T-Mobile G1. She suffers technolust like any good gadgetgrrl, but its always tempers with whether it will match her shoes and handbag. She bounces from one device to another. She is an OS agnostic-- liking them all for different reasons. She has seen it all and wants to see more.

Please tell me that “iPad Tip of the Day” is a one-time thing, not a sign that we can expect a gratuitous iPad-related post on GBM every single day…

No, GBM is not going to actively have an iPad tip of the day. It was just used as a title for the post.
