How To Watch the Masters Golf Tournament While Mobile

For golf fans who get as excited about the Masters Golf Tournament as the others get about the Super Bowl, CES and the Oscars, one app that will help you enjoy the tournament, if you can’t be in front of your TV this weekend, is The Master’s Golf Tournament app ($1.99). If you don’t have an iPad, then the Masters website will show the rounds on a computer through your browser. There is also an iPhone version and one available in the Android Marketplace, which are both free.

The apps offers the video feed of the live tournament coverage and on the weekend will show the CBS broadcasts much like the NCAA March Madness on Demand app did for the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament. The video quality of the golf rounds is pretty good. There was an occasional sound/video sync issue, but it was minimal. You will likely need a fast Internet connection to enjoy the app.

The Masters website has the video feeds as well. In fact the website and the app are very similar. Both offer live video as well as player information. Game stats and leaderboards are there too. The apps will give you push notifications of key moments, like when the rounds begin. You can personalize the app by picking your favorite players. When you do, you will be alerted to their progress, if you turn on the notifications in the Peronalize menu.

We really like what CBS sports events have been doing lately with event apps. We hope the trend continues with all of their special sporting events in the future. The other networks could learn a lesson from them. We look forward to the day when all the major broadcast and cable networks have an app streaming their content to the iPad or other mobile devices. Hope this happens before we are all too old to enjoy it.

I never realized what an amazingly beautiful course Augusta was until I started watching it this year in HD!! This would be the perfect spot for Tiger to regain his old form!! I work at DISH Network and just got setup with HD Free for Life, which will now save me $120/yr on programming like The Master’s in HD!! If you’re big into sports, movies etc., or maybe just looking at the beautiful Augusta landscape, check out Dish.com/200HD!!
