Samsung to Launch Infuse 4G in Canada with Gingerbread, 1080p HD Video Recording

At launch, the Samsung Infuse 4G for the Canadian market will have some refinements that best the earlier launch of the same hardware for AT&T, including the newer Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and the ability to record videos in full 1080p HD resolution on the 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. The OS upgrade, which unlocks the higher resolution video encoding capabilities, may suggest that the feature would also be available on the AT&T-edition of the Infuse 4G when and if Samsung and AT&T release Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the AT&T model.

The Infuse 4G utilizes a large 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, the same variety used on the Verizon-branded Droid Charge. The 4.5-inch display sits in the middle of the 5-inch Dell Streak 5 and most 4.3-inch smartphones of today. It does have a slim profile, which makes it easier to handle despite having a larger display size.

The device also has a single-core 1.2 GHz applications processor.

With Gingerbread, Samsung will continue to load its proprietary TouchWiz user interface on the Canadian Infuse 4G model.
