Motorola Xoom 4G LTE Upgrade Gets One Step Closer to Release

The Motorola Xoom has traveled a bumpy road since it was released all the way back in February of this year. Motorola and Verizon promised it would be the first tablet with 4G LTE capabilities only to see that blow up in their face with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with LTE.

Since February, we’ve seen signs that things were in motion and Motorola confirmed that the upgraded for 4G LTE would be launching in September. Still, there are people that are skeptical about a September release and I honestly don’t blame them.

However, it does appear that a release is on the horizon as testing is apparently going very smoothly over at Verizon and PhoneArena is reporting that beta tests of 4G LTE on the Xoom for Verizon employees has begun wrapping up.

According to their source, the Xoom’s that were upgraded have performed admirably with speeds pegged around 18Mpbs. Not bad and definitely, if true, something that should excite Xoom owners who haven’t ditched their Xoom for something else.

In any event, the upgrade is just around the corner folks which means you’ll be having to part with your tablet very soon.

  1. Any news for this feature in Canada?  Thanks.

  2. The paragraph directly below photo has a typo.  Plural of Xoom is Xooms, not Xoom’s.
