WatchESPN Brings ESPN and NFL to iPhone, iPad and Android

Sports junkies rejoice. WatchESPN is a free app for the iPhone, iPad and Android phones that delivers live streaming of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN U — including live streaming of Monday Night FootBall (MNF).

After using the app for the past few days, I am pretty impressed with the quality of the video, and I definitely prefer the iPad’s larger display over watching on NFL Mobile on my Verizon phone.

The bad news is that you’ll need a cable subscription to get the most from WatchESPN, but unlike the Time Warner Cable app, you don’t need to be at home to use it. There are some options for users with only high speed internet, but you are limited to ESPN 3.

Full Access participating cable operators

  • Bright House Networks
  • Time Warner Cable
  • Verizon FiOS TV

Limited Access (ESPN3 Only, or no video)

  • AT&T High Speed Only
  • AT&T Uverse
  • CenturyLink
  • DirectTV
  • Dish Network
  • Verizon Internet Only

While it is annoying that I can’t watch all of the TV I want in one app, it is nice to have access to the ESPN networks wherever I am. This morning I was able to watch SportsCenter while working from the local coffeeshop without any special fees, hardware or complicated processes. One nice touch is that instead of listening to commercials, you get some music and a commercial break screen.

ESPN on iPad Live Streaming

Watch ESPN and NFL Games Live on your iPad, iPhone and Android.

Watch ESPN is available for the following devices, as well as online at WatchESPN.com.

Hopefully we’ll see access open up to more cable operators, and the possibility of using an in app purchase to gain access to content.

    ,Yuuuhuuu….,,,

I just got a $827.89 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HTV for only $251.92, they are both coming tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prîces at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use http://alturl.com/ijt4b
