HTC Flyer Price Dropping to $299 at Best Buy

Published

on

Yesterday, it became readily apparent that the price of the Android-powered HTC Flyer would be dropping at Best Buy in wake of the Amazon’s Kindle Fire announcement. And while yesterday it was unconfirmed, today, Best Buy made it official and the HTC Flyer will be dropping down to the low price of $299 starting tomorrow. That’s a pretty steep decrease from the device’s previous $499 price tag.

This is not a sale either. This is a permanent price drop and one that should make the HTC Flyer and its HTC Scribe technology more appealing to the masses. It’s also an effort to try and get rid of these before Amazon releases the $199 Kindle Fire in November. But hey, Best Buy would never say that.

The HTC Flyer price drop is just one of many that is expected in the weeks ahead. Already we saw the Wi-Fi only version of the Motorola Xoom fall to an unheard of price at Woot and Barnes and Noble dropped the price of the Nook Color yesterday as well.

Best Buy’s deal for the HTC Flyer will be available both online and in-stores and is worth a look if you’ve been in the market for an Android tablet.

We definitely enjoyed our time with it.

I’m considering this one now that the price has dropped to a little more reasonable price..   I’m waiting though, to see how many other tablets drop in price.

This is that time of year when its to close to CES and I’m stuck between wanting to buy something.. (Kindle Fire, Nook Color 2) or waiting to see what new beauty’s are in the works. Rooted, I love my Nook color, but I rooted it mainly to get the Kindle App on there, so I’m really leaning toward pulling the trigger on the Fire..

HTC Flyer was way over priced. All of these 7” models were way over priced. Nook Color showed you could do a nice tablet for under 300.. I just couldn’t justify spending what I paid for my iPad on a 7”. I think with the pen option HTC Flyer is worth 299 if the pen is included.

Bestbuy should sell it included the pen at $299. Or sell the HTC flyer below $250 because it is just a single core 7″ tablet without Honey comb.
Luckily, people can buy other N-trig stylus to replace its original HTC stylus. It is a lot cheaper (~$50 cheaper).

Too expensive even at $299… the 10″ honeycomb tablets are selling at $350 now (50 bucks more!).. the correct price point for this tab is $249.  It is a single core so it’s less powerful than the Nook Tablet but one can overlook that since it has the cameras and is more of an open OS than the Nook.
