Samsung: Galaxy S III Not Launching in April

Published

on

After much speculation and anticipated hoping that Samsung’s third-generation Android flagship smartphone will be hitting in April after the company pulled the device from an announcement late last month at Mobile World Congress, Samsung is telling eager fans that the Samsung Galaxy S III will not be making its international debut in April. According to the South Korean smartphone-maker on social networking site Twitter, the Galaxy S III does not have a fixed launch date yet, and that it would use Twitter to announce when the phone would launch.

Earlier in the year, after much speculation and hype, Samsung told hopeful fans not to expect the device at Mobile World Congress in late February. The reasoning is that Samsung doesn’t want a long period between when the phone is announced to when it would be available to consumers to purchase.

There have been rumors also that the phone could potentially debut this summer, perhaps by the June time frame. If true, this announcement would be close to Google’s I/O conference. With Android 5.0 Jelly Bean also speculated by some to debut at Google I/O–others are speculating that the next-generation Android OS would land by the end of the year–would a Galaxy S III overshadow the next-generation Google Nexus smartphone with Android 5.0?

Also, if the phone debuts this summer, it would have a 3-month edge potentially before Apple debuts the iPhone 5.

The Galaxy S III may have impressive specs when it debuts, including a potential 1080p HD display on a 4.8-inch display with Super AMOLED Plus technology, giving it a hyper-saturated screen with great viewing angles and good outdoors readability under direct sunlight.
