Lenovo Announces 9.7-Inch Android 4.0 Tablet
Lenovo has announced a new tablet, the Lenovo IdeaTab S2109, which will be arriving with a 9.7-inch screen and Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
The tablet had passed through the FCC last month but a YouTube video, first discovered by NetbookNews Italia, signals a release in the not-so-distant future.
The IdeaTab 2109 is going to feature a similar-sized screen to the new iPad, only it won’t have the same resolution that Apple’s new slate provides. Instead, Lenovo’s tablet will have a 1024 x 768 IPS display, a far cry from the 2048 x 1536 resolution found on the new iPad.
It’ll be powered by a TI OMAP chip, a purported 10 hours of battery life, a 1.3MP rear camera, microSD and micro-HDMI slots, four speakers that are SRS-ready, and again, it will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
From the video that Lenovo released on YouTube, which you can see below, it doesn’t appear to have Lenovo’s user interface over Android either.
All of that is packed into a nice-looking 8.9mm unibody design.
The tablet is also going to feature access to both the Google Play Store, Google’s official app marketplace, as well as Lenovo’s own app store.
Unfortunately, Lenovo has not yet announced when the device is going to be hitting shelves or how much it’s going to cost when it finally does.
That information should come to the surface in the days ahead.
Exciting for those looking to get Android 4.0 on a large screen, but let’s just hope that Lenovo keeps the price attractive.
