Asus Eee Pad Slider Ice Cream Sandwich Update Rolls Out

Published

on

Asus has announced that its Eee Pad Slider Android tablet has begun to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Owners in the United States should see the update which is Android 4.0.3.

The company took to Twitter to make the announcement saying that the software is rolling out to owners of the device in both the U.S. and in Taiwan. The device, while available in the U.S., has seemingly been overshadowed by its two siblings, the Eee Pad Transformer and the Transformer Prime.

That being said, an upgrade to Android 4.0 should make the 10.1-inch slate even more attractive to consumers that are looking for a tablet that features a slide-out physical keyboard.

Owners of the tablet can either pull the software from their device or, if so inclined, can go to Asus’ website in order to manually install the update. We recommend just going into the device’s settings and pulling the update rather then dealing with the hassle that is manual installation.

The Eee Pad Slider, while overshadowed, has some appealing features including ultra-wide 10.1-inch IPS display, its dual-core Tegra 2 processor, and again, its full QWERTY keyboard.

It is part of a crowded lineup of tablets from Asus which includes the aforementioned Eee Pad Transformer, the quad-core powered Transformer Prime and Asus’ recently announced Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Series and the Transformer Pad 300 Series which the company unveiled at the Mobile World Congress back in February.

The Asus Transformer Pad 300 is currently available on Amazon for $400 and it too features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
