Sony Unveils Four New Xperia Smartphones Adam Mills06/13/2012 Sony has unveiled four new Xperia smartphones today in the the Xperia miro, Xperia tipo, Xperia tipo dual and Xperia ion HSPA. Three of the devices will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but none of them are going to be high-end models and they will probably be priced in a way that should attract those that don’t need the latest and greatest.Advertisement Starting with the Xperia miro, it packs a 3.5-inch display with a measly 480 x 320 resolution. It has a 5MP camera, a front facing camera for video chatting, a 1,500 mAh battery and DLNA support. It’s also powered by an 800MHz processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It’ll come in a variety of colors including black, black with pink, white and white with gold.Advertisement The Xperia tipo and the Xperia tipo dual are the same phone except for the fact that the Xperia tipo has dual SIM cards. That means that users can easily bring it around with them on trips, whether for business for for pleasure. Other than that feature, the devices are the same.Advertisement That means a 3.2-inch display, a 3.2MP camera, 1,500 mAh battery, and both are powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and an 800MHz processor. Both will come in a variety of colors including blue, red, white and black. Finally, we have the Xperia ion HSPA which is the HSPA equivalent to the other Xperia ion that we saw launch at CES back in January.Advertisement That means it features a massive 4.6-inch display with 1280 x 720 resolution, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 12MP camera, and a massive 1,900 mAh battery. However, it will only be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a promise of an upgrade to Android 4.0 in the future. Clearly, none of these are going to appeal to hardware enthusiasts but they likely will appeal to those on a budget. Sony has not yet given any of these specific release dates or pricing but we should hear about all of that soon.
