Droid-Life has been tipped off to a June 27th Android 4.0 release date for both the Droid RAZR and the Droid MAXX with a soak test for both of the updates starting on June 22nd. We assume that that June 27th is reliant on everything going well with the soak test and if testers have issues, it could potentially get pushed back.
At this point though, we hope that Motorola has done everything in its power to ensure the update is ready for prime time and ready to hit that Q2 release date that it imposed on itself.
Q2 of course encompasses April, May and June which means Motorola is working on a pretty tight deadline right now in an effort to meet that promise. So far, it looks like the company is going to make good on that promise to Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners.
In any event, it looks like the saga of the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX Ice Cream Sandwich release date might be coming to an end after many weeks of speculation, confusion and rumor.
The patience of Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners has been pretty amazing considering Motorola said that the update, at least for the Droid RAZR MAXX, would be arriving in the “coming weeks.”
Apparently, “coming weeks” means “coming months.”
It also hasn’t helped that Verizon’s support account on Twitter has been confusing customers left and right. In one exchange, a representative on there claimed that they had no idea that the update had been promised by Motorola in Q2 even though Motorola has had that date listed for quite some time now.
Mind boggling stuff to be sure.
So, let’s hope that the soak test for Ice Cream Sandwich goes well for both the Droid RAZR and the Droid RAZR MAXX and that owners will be using Android 4.0 starting on June 27th.
