Droid Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich Update Leaks

Published

on

Just one day after the HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update leaked to the surface, the Droid Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich decided to do the same and it’s now available for owners to get a taste of before the official roll out begins.

XDA-Developers forums, courtesy of Android Police, has leaked a Droid Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM which is based on a leaked RUU straight from HTC.

And while this is not the official version of the Droid Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich update, it will likely hold off owners who have rooted their device until HTC and Verizon decide to push out the update officially.

Fortunately, there should only be a few days left before HTC decides to release the Droid Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich update as the company promised the update by the end of August. August ends in just a few days so hopefully something emerges before then.

The Droid Incredible 2 ICS update has leaked.

It’s entirely possible that HTC and Verizon will miss that deadline without any sort of explanation. The companies did that very thing with the HTC Rezound ICS update, missing its July deadline by a few days.

HTC and Verizon have yet to announce anything specific so for now, this ROM is as close to ICS as Droid Incredible 2 owners are going to get.

It is though, a sign that good things are on the way.

The leak comes just a day after the HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update leaked for owners. The ThunderBolt ICS update is another piece of software that HTC promised before the end of August and it would appear that it is on track for an August release as well.

Hopefully, HTC provides specific release dates for both software updates in the coming days in an effort to soothe the minds of device owners who have been waiting diligently for the updates to arrive.

TODAY VERIZON DOWNLOADED THIS TO MY PHONE AND IT CRASHED MY PHONE TOTALLY!

this morning at 7 AM, I was in bed checking e-mails, and social web sites. This is common for me. At about 7:10, I got a message from verizon I need to up date my new softwear…so like always I hit “accept”….I went in and left the phone on the night stand as it did “it’s thing”…I come out and my phone was totally LOCKED UP!

This phone is the NEW DRIOD and I have only had it since April of 2012.

I drove into work and the phone was nothing but a brick! I took it to my local Verizon store and the guy said, “OH YOU DOWN LOADED ICS HUH”….I said, “I have no idea what that is but yea I downloaded the new softwear verizon sent me..” He explained that this softwear has been a problem for several phone types in the verizon inventory (this was also confirmed by a sprint sales person-more on him later!).

The verizon tech mess with my phone for an hour-I lost two highly important calls in this time. Then he called Tech support- and they looked at it for another period of time-In all about 2 hours! The soultion was to be without my phone for 2 or 3 days. I have been a verizon account holder with the same number since the mid-1990’s and never had a late payment or issue. I am the customer they want!

Verizon was not only inflexable, I was going to loose business becuase my cell phone is for work! When is became apparent that Verizon was NOT GOING TO GIVE ME A NEW PHONE, THEY COULD NOT FIX THIS PHONE-MY PHONE WAS NOT EVEN CHARGING BECUASE OF THE INTERNAL PROBLEMS,I walked down to sprint.

I told the guy my phone had “crashed” and he laughed, “oh you down loaded the ICS softwear..why they forced that on customers is beyond me”-SO THIS IS NOT ME-IT IS VERIZON! I explained my problem and I needed a phone.

Sprint’s charge was 85.00 once I gave them my verizon phone and I got a new phone on the spot! I walked back down to Verizon-got my junk phone-took it to Sprint and he looked at it and said, yea your phone is not even holding a charge now.

Long story short, after a long history with Verizon, I dumped them and ended my service with them becuase of their new soft wear-ICE CREAM SANDWHICH! My phone was so trashed they could only get my contacts- my music, and photos were all gone and the phone was not even charging at a reasonable rate.

I expaect to get some nasty letter from Verizon now for ending my contract with them-but that is fine! I am able to handle that.

THIS SOFT WEAR TRASHED MY PHONE!

When you can use correct spelling and grammar Mr. Smith then we can take you seriously. First there is no way Verizon downloaded ics to your phone…as it is not even out yet! Anyways this is great news. I’ve been waiting for ics for a long time!

“Long story short, after a long history with Verizon, I dumped them and ended my service with them becuase of their new soft wear-ICE CREAM SANDWHICH!”

This may not make you happy, but ICS isn’t Verizon software… It’s Google software. If you get a new Android from Sprint, it’ll most likely be running ICS, considering their newest software, JellyBean, is only on a handful of devices.

This might also not make you happy. You did not download ICS. 90% of the people who work for cell-phone companies have no idea what they’re talking about. Do your own research and you’ll be better off.

I’m not trying to be a grammar nazi but DOWN LOADED is DOWNLOADED. But, yeah what matt said, ICS isn’t even out yet so yeah it couldn’t of been an official version.

Mr. Smith you sound very phony. Half the crap you said is obviously just a big hoax.

John Smith? You didn’t tell us what phone you were using. We certainly can’t confirm your problem until you do. Secondly, the things your SD card would not be effected hy an OS update. Thirdly, you wanted out of your contract so you could get the jewest, greatest, latest. Good luck with your story.
