Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Specs and Jelly Bean Revealed?

By  |  12 Comments

While signs thus far have pointed to Samsung putting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it appears that the company might be putting Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on the upcoming phablet, set to arrive on August 29th in Berlin, Germany.

According to Korean publication Seoul Newspaper, the Galaxy Note 2 might be coming with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean on board when it arrives on shelves later this year. It also appears, if the translation is correct, that it could be headed to Korea in October.

The company has seemingly obtained a specification sheet for the upcoming product that reveals the device’s supposed specifications, several of which have been rumored before.

The Galaxy Note 2 specs may have been revealed.

According to the spec sheet, the Galaxy Note 2, which is listed as the GT-N7100 (the original was the GT-N7000) will feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280x720p resolution, a Exynos 4412 quad-core processor, an 8MP rear camera, 16GB and 32GB storage options, and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.

The sheet also seems to suggest 3G and 4G LTE connectivity and a 16:9 aspect ratio for the screen.

The publication also claims that the Galaxy Note 2 design will not have the same curves as its predecessor, which might be to protect it from Apple who recently was awarded over $1 billion in damages from Samsung due to patent infringement. Instead, the Galaxy Note 2 may come with a more rectangular shape, as seen in the photo below.

The Galaxy Note 2 could feature a rectangular design.

Samsung has yet to confirm any of the device’s details though consumers only have to wait a couple of days to find out for sure.

The company has scheduled an Unpacked event for August 29th wherein it will show off the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and its features for the first time.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 will replace the original 5.3-inch Galaxy Note which launched in October of 2011 and has been available on AT&T since February and on T-Mobile since August.

T-Mobile was recently rumored to have cancelled the Galaxy Note, possibly in favor of the Galaxy Note 2.

Thanks Colin!

In the video you can see that the corners of the Galaxy Note 2 are indeed rounded & it looks exactly like the Galaxy S3, it will not have sharp corners. TMobile have not cancelled selling the Galaxy Note they are just out of stock at the moment & it should be for sale online again in about a week.

I was tempted to switch my note1 .. if the frame and bezel are as shown on the right of the 3 images and the specs are a 13mp camera, same resolution and quad core proc, id be happy,… but if the resolution is less, same 8mp camera and still unnecessary wasted space at the top and bottom of the device and overly rounded corners I’ll definitely pass!

I’m doubting that these specs are legit. The 1st note had a 5.3in screen with a resolution of 1280×800 which is approx 285ppi. According to this the note 2 would be 5.5@1280×720 which would make it 267ppi? I really doubt they would come out with a new phone with a lower resolution than the phone it’s replacing, especially with how much emphasis Samsung puts on advertising the quality of their displays. I could always be wrong but I really hope I’m not as I’ve been waiting for this phone and that would be a deal breaker for me..

Pretty disappointing if true… S3 was a huge step forward compared to S2 (better cpu, better resolution, bigger display). The N2 only got the cpu upgrade. At least give us A15 or higher res or Super Amoled HD Plus or increase megapixel! The N1 had its niche against S2, but this is only a bigger display S3.
