Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 10.1 Jelly Bean Updates Coming “Very Soon”
Samsung says that the Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 10.1 Jelly Bean updates are coming “very soon” though the company remains mum on specific roll out windows or dates.
On stage at its Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany, Samsung revealed that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates will be coming soon for the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note 10.1.
The original Galaxy Note was also prominently displayed on a slide that included Android 4.1 Jelly Bean though it wasn’t included in Samsung’s announcement.
Samsung already confirmed Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet but this is the first time we’ve heard confirmation for the Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.
The original Galaxy Note is rumored to be getting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at some point in Q4 but Samsung is not saying exactly when owners might expect it to roll out.
The Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update was rumored to be rolling out today, though it remains in the shadows for the time being.
Samsung confirmed the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 10.1 at its launch event earlier this month but did not say when it would be getting the update.
Oddly enough, the company did not mention the Samsung Galaxy S II at all. The Galaxy S II is a device that is rumored to be getting the Android 4.1 update in Q4. So, it could be that the company has not yet decided whether the Galaxy S II will get the update or not. Thus far, signs have looked good.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the device that Samsung launched today, right out of the box. That means that the new Note 2 will have access to Jelly Bean’s new, fast user interface, Google Now, offline Voice dictation and more.
Older Samsung Galaxy devices will have to wait for those features it seems.
We’ll dig for more specifics as “very soon” in Samsung speak could means days, weeks or months from now. In any event Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy S III will get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
