Sony appears to be gearing up to make some further Android 4.1 Jelly Bean announcements later on this month as the company has announced that it will be providing new details in regards to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates in the middle of December.
The company took to Twitter to confirm the good news saying that it would, in the middle of December, be announcing detailing timing and more information in regards to the upcoming Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for its 2012 Xperia devices. Thus far, Sony has only confirmed Android 4.1 in Q1 2013 for the Xperia T, Xperia TX, and Xperia V leaving many owners wondering about timing of their update.
As noted by XperiaBlog, owners of the Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go, and Xperia J smartphones have been waiting for an announcement in regards to the timing of their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates and the details that are forthcoming could finally reveal some sort of window for these updates’ arrival.
We do know that those phones will indeed be getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as Sony has confirmed Jelly Bean updates for its entire Xperia 2012 lineup. Xperia phones from 2011 will unfortunately only be upgraded to Android 4.0 which means that owners will have to find alternative ways to snag Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on their device. With the Android development community as thriving as it is, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem, we hope.
If Sony does announce the rest of the updates for Q1, it would mean that the company is working towards a massive roll out in the months of January, February and March. More likely, at least some of these will likely see their updates arrive in the second quarter of next year which consists of April, May and June. If true, some owners could be waiting until the start of summer for their update to arrive.
Of course, nothing is confirmed yet but it shouldn’t be long until Xperia owners have an idea about when to expect their Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software.
