8 Exciting Android Smartphones for 2013

Nexus 5

Google's Nexus 4 is currently the talk of the town as it has been relatively sold out since it made its debut in the early part of November. With its high-end specifications and cheap off-contract price, it's no surprise as to why Google has a hit on its hands.

This year's Nexus didn't feature 4G LTE data speeds though which left some users perturbed. Fortunately, there's always next year with the Nexus 5.

Even if there is no 4G LTE, at the very least, because the Nexus 4 is doing so well, look for Google to release a device with some high-end specifications and a cheap price tag. That has us excited already.

There’s only one new phone on that list. The others are new versions of current phones. Anyone could predict those.

Jolla phone could be interesting(promised to arrive by next summer), although it’s getting more and more difficult to stand out from the masses these days.

Why would Nexus NOT get 4GLTE — still? Makes no sense! Can’t someone like AT&T bully them into it? I’m in a hair salon all day and we have 4GLTE here; can’t imagine surfing for hairstyles without it.

Although it is widely used in the US and Canada, worldwide it is barely noticed. Only the UK and Australia have LTE outside north America and here in the UK it only one carrier has it, and they only have 3 phones supporting it and it is very expensive and in few cities. Google are waiting for it to develop. HSDPA+ is more common worldwide and is fairly quick and with the same traffic can practically reach the same download speeds (upload speeds it is trounced and with low traffic LTE is much faster). Another reason is battery life as the LTE Galaxy Nexus had shocking battery life. And finally is the carrier as the carrier has to approve the software and adds all kinds of things which slow the updates and make it non pure android. And without pure android, it’s not a true nexus. When LTE is a standard, Google will support it but until then it won’t.

I’ve got the similar question but I’m in real estate. I have 4G LTE (also with AT&T) in New York and use it for downloading a lot of property brochures, photos, blueprints, etc., and for my navigation (taking clients places). I hear it’s not “real” but I don’t want to use anything slower, whatever it “really” is.
