AT&T Galaxy Note, S2 & One X Jelly Bean Updates Could Roll Out in January
Canadian carrier Rogers has confirmed that it will be rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for its HTC One X in early January, Galaxy Note in early January and Galaxy S2 in late January as well. And based on past roll outs, this could also mean that the AT&T will roll out its One X, Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean updates at some point in early January.
Rogers confirmed the plans in an update on its Jelly Bean update roll out schedule which now lists the HTC One X Jelly Bean update as rolling out at some point in the early part of next month.
The update to the page, first noticed by Phandroid, also shows the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE will get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in late January and the Galaxy Note will gets its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in early January in addition to the HTC One X. The Canadian carrier does not confirm exact roll out dates for the trio of devices though we expect that it may not reveal those until it gets much closer to their roll out dates.
As Rogers notes, the release dates are subject to change so at this point treat these as tenative. Nonetheless, while that’s fantastic news for owners of the Rogers versions of these devices, it’s also fantastic news for those who own the AT&T versions of the HTC One X, Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy Note.
In the past, Rogers and AT&T devices have received their updates within days of each other. For instance, with the Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update, Rogers rolled its update out on December 2nd and AT&T rolled its update out on December 3rd. With the Galaxy Note Ice Cream Sandwich update, Rogers rolled its update out on July 13th while AT&T’s Galaxy Note ICS update touched down on July 10th.
And finally, the Galaxy S II Ice Cream Sandwich updates. AT&T pushed its update out on June 25th while Rogers made its update available on June 20th. AT&T’s originally arrived on June 22nd but was delayed a few days due to issues.
We heard previously that the Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates could start rolling out in the fourth quarter of this year and given that they typically roll out to carrier unlocked models first, it could be that we’ll see both updates emerge sometime this month. The HTC One X Jelly Bean update has already started rolling out in regions not called the U.S.
So while this isn’t definitive proof, it certainly points to the possibility of all three of these updates hitting AT&T variants of these devices next month. Needless to say, owners of those devices should keep their fingers crossed until then.
