Verizon HTC One Release No Longer Denied by HTC

A few short days ago, HTC USA shot out a tweet that denied rumors of an upcoming Verizon HTC One launch. Shortly after, the company deleted the tweet and in recent days, has taken an arguably more favorable tone towards customers asking about the possibility of the Verizon HTC One.

In February, HTC announced its new flagship smartphone, the HTC One, which has been backed by AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile and which is due out at some point in the weeks ahead. Both before and after the launch however, rumors swirled about a possible Verizon HTC One, a device appealing to consumers in the United States due to Verizon’s massive 4G LTE network.

The HTC One crashed the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event.

HTC is now singing a different tune when it comes to the Verizon HTC One.

HTC USA decided to throw itself into the controversy over whether or not there will be a Verizon HTC One by sending out a tweet denying the rumors and saying that a Verizon HTC One was not in the works. Shortly thereafter, the company deleted the widely reported tweet, but forgot to delete several other tweets that gave the same answer: a Verizon HTC One wasn’t coming.

Soon after, it became apparent that the Verizon HTC One was actually still in the works and that the company would likely release it about one to two months after it starts shipping in the United States. At this point, that appears to mean a release date sometime this summer.

Needless to say, consumers are still extremely curious about whether or not the Verizon HTC One is real and have been pressing HTC USA for details regarding its rumored release. HTC has now taken an extremely different tone in regards to questions about the Verizon HTC One. Instead of not answering questions or stating that it won’t be coming, the company is now saying, on Twitter, that:

We’ve announced that the new HTC One is coming to AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. We don’t comment on rumor or speculation.

So, for those that are hoping to get more information, this is likely going to be the company-wide response. However, this isn’t a bad thing. The fact that HTC is not flat out denying that a Verizon HTC One is coming is a good thing as it means that there still is a good chance of a launch taking place. At the very least, it’s a much different tone than the company took in the past.

Rumors have suggested that HTC’s 4.7-inch, quad-core powered HTC may come to Verizon to replace the Droid DNA, the device Verizon launched back in November. So, it could be that Verizon’s version is a tweaked version of the HTC One, perhaps, the Droid DNA 2. Nothing is for sure yet but from the looks of things, the Verizon HTC One isn’t dead as was once thought.

Well I’m not Verizon customer, so I don’t care if big red get the ONE, but when I see this type of back and forth of rumors. I draw one conclusion. HTC know they are having trouble meeting demands because of shortage of parts therefor why promise another large carrier a device when they already having delays. I think if HTC didn’t have this issue getting all the parts to produce a massive amount of HTC ONE’s they would proudly confirm a Verizon HTC ONE. That’s just my thoughts. BTW I’m rooting for you HTC. loyal customer here, and come by saying I’ve had the best experience with your company.

Personally I am skeptical. My feeling is Verizon is getting a similar phone, of equal specification, but wont have the beautiful design elements of the One.

This is encouraging news. At the end of the day “consumers win” and hopefully Verizon will offer some like the HTC One.
