Facebook has sent out press invites for an event slated for April 4th at its Menlo Park Headquarters where the company invites the press to see it’s new home on Android.

Shortly after Facebook hosted an event detailing a new mobile inspired News Feed, the company has sent invites out informing the press about an event that’s set to take place on April 4th at 10AM PST. The company’s invitation, which was sent to Gotta Be Mobile, does not allude to anything else in particular only to say that the event is for a product announcement pertaining to Android.

Facebook’s invitation comes shortly after the company hosted an event at its headquarters to showcase its new mobile inspired News Feed which will be bringing a cleaner look to owners of smartphones, tablets and desktops. Facebook’s new News Feed takes design cues from the current mobile design that it employs on millions of smartphones and tablets.

It’s unclear if this new News Feed will tie into this Android event on April 4th but Facebook has said that the new News Feed would be rolling out to the iPhone and Android devices in the coming weeks. The announcement took place on March 7th. It also could be something entirely different, possibly a redesigned application.

Facebook has added many new features to its mobile applications lately including additions to the Facebook app for iPhone which now lets users record video and send voice messages directly from the main app.

There are also rumors of another Facebook smartphone called the HTC Myst and it’s possible that the HTC Myst will be a part of Facebook’s announcement on April 6th. The HTC Myst is thought to be headed to AT&T’s 4G LTE network with pre-loaded Facebook software on board.
