Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Competitor Hitting U.S. in May?
It appears that the LG Optimus G Pro, LG’s 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 2 rival, might be hitting the United States and specifically AT&T in just a few weeks as a new rumor places the device’s release date in the U.S. on May 10th.
All along, LG has said that the LG Optimus G Pro would be hitting the United States during the second quarter of the year. However, a specific release date and a specific carrier, or carriers, have been out of reach. And while LG isn’t ready to announce anything just yet, rumors suggest that we could be close to finally getting official information about one of the stronger competitors to the Galaxy Note 2.
According to a rumor from Android Central, the LG Optimus G Pro may be hitting AT&T in just a few weeks with May 10th being pegged as its possible release date in the United States. Thus far, AT&T is the only carrier that has been rumored to be carrying the Optimus G Pro though there remains a chance that a carrier like Sprint, which has the LG Optimus G like AT&T, could decide to carry it.
Right now though, AT&T is the only rumored carrier of this 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2 competitor. Pricing for the device remains uncertain though we expect it to fall in line with standard pricing practices for high-end smartphones. That is to say that it may come in with a $199.99-$299.99 price tag, on-contract.
The LG Optimus G Pro, like the Galaxy Note 2, features a 5.5-inch display. However, unlike the display on the Galaxy Note 2, the Optimus G Pro’s display sports full 1080p resolution making for better looking video and images. It also is equipped with a quad-core processor, the Snapdragon 600 – same processor in the Galaxy S4, and it will be rocking Android Jelly Bean as well, presumably Android 4.2, which would give it a leg up on the Galaxy Note 2. It does not use a unique stylus like the Galaxy Note 2′s S Pen.
It could be that the LG Optimus G Pro touches down around the same time AT&T releases the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is going up for pre-order on April 16th and likely will be released sometime in late April or in early to mid May.
