Users of the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Victory should soon receive a notification to update their phone that will bring Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean to the mid-range smartphone.

Today Sprint announced that it started rolling out the update to Galaxy Victory update, so within the next few days users should receive the update. The update won’t give users the very latest version of Android, but it will bring them on step closer to the latest iteration of Android and add a number of new features.

The update will automatically download to the Galaxy Victory, all users have to do is let the update install on their phones. Users can check for updates in the Settings menu, but there is no way to manually install the update aside from that.

Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean brings Google Now to the Galaxy Victory, which gives users easy access to information. Google Now has some functionality like Siri as it lets users speak commands which it will then complete, but the service has other advantages.

Google Now will automatically update users on sports scores, commute time, nearby restaurants, movie times and flight status among other things. The service is the biggest addition to Jelly Bean.

Other Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean features that will soon come to Galaxy Victory users include Android Beam, which lets users share data by tapping their phone to another person’s phone. The update also brings expanded notifications which let users perform some simple tasks from within the notification tray. Jelly Bean also lets users dictate text without an Internet connection, a feature that only Android offers.

Most of the new features for the Galaxy Victory come from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, though the update does bring along at least one other feature. The update adds Swype to the Samsung smartphone for free, giving users a new way to type on their phone, should they want the option. There is always an option to change the keyboard if users prefer different styles.
