Nexus 11 Rumored to Replace the Nexus 10

A new rumor suggests that Google and Samsung could be cooking up a new, powerful Nexus 11 tablet to replace the current collaboration between the two known as the Nexus 10.

With 2013 in full swing, rumors of new Nexus devices are already cropping up with whispers of a Nexus 5 later this year, Nexus 4 LTE and now, a Nexus 11 tablet.

According to SamMobile, which is generally reliable with its information, Google and Samsung are working on a new tablet, and one that will likely replace the Nexus 10, the 10-inch tablet that is currently on the Google Play Store and which launched alongside the Nexus 4 and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean in November of last year.

Rumored specs of the new tablet include a 11-inch Super PLS TFT display, about an inch bigger than the Nexus 10’s display, an 8MP camera in the rear, 2MP front-facing camera, an octo-core Exynos processor, and 64GB of storage with a microSD card slot. The device evidently still needs approval from Google but from the looks of things, the device could become the first octo-core tablet on the market, joining the Galaxy S4 which is also powered by a processor with eight cores.

It’s unclear as to when the companies will announce and release the new tablet but given that the Nexus 10 is only a few months old, we imagine that Google I/O is likely not going to be the launching pad for the new Nexus 11. Instead, Google I/O rumors thus far have pegged the event as having a new Nexus 7, possibly the Nexus 7 2, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and possibly a new Nexus 4 LTE on hand as well.

A Nexus 5 isn’t expected until later this year, possibly in November.

Any Nexus branded tablet from Google would likely be sold within the Google Play Store for a competitive price though we imagine that retailers around the country will also be selling the device at some point as well.

The Nexus 11, if real, would likely compete against the new iPad 5 from Apple which has been rumored for arrival sometime later this year with possible launch dates appearing across the board.

Another new model that launches in May and available through a site called TabletSprint is the Icoo 12GT – an 11.6″ Android tablet model for $329, that features a Retina-quality 1920 x 1080 IPS Screen, an impressive Quad-Core A31 Allwinner chipset with a Powergraphics SGX544MP GPU, 2GB RAM, and 16GB memory; Along with WiFi, Bluetooth, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 5 MegaPixel Front and Rear Cameras, a standard USB 2.0 Port, MicroSD Memory Card slot, and HDMI 1080p.

While obviously not as powerful as the anticipated Nexus 11, the Icoo 12GT model offers an impressive price for a tablet that is nearly 12 inches in size, and features a speedy processor and a high resolution, Retina-quality display — with a touchscreen that’s also large enough for a multi-user experience – ideal for families, as well as for education and business use —

The first comment is an advertisement. I see them all the time in the comment section when the subject of the article is about tablets.

Just to add a ‘conspiracy’ part to this – “Will” could be code for “William Shakespeare”. Falstaff was a character in 3 of his plays: a fat ersatz Knight who lead people into trouble.

I bought the new Icoo 12GT and it’s an impressive tablet – definitely worth more that the $299 price tablet – I’ve have another Icoo tablet for a year and it’s held up great.
