The Google X Phone from Motorola is rumored to arrive later this year with a host of crazy customization options, manageable screen sizes and stock Android, depending on the rumor of the week.
A new Google X Phone concept combines some of these rumors into a X Phone mock up that offers a sleek looking device with Motorola inspired design and a hint of MotoBlur, but combines a new back that sets it apart from the Droid RAZR MAXX HD.
Rain Tomista is a designer from the Philippines who made this Google X Phone concept. He based the device on the Droid RAZR MAXX HD and the HTC Droid DNA, combining rumors and his ideas for the phone into what you see below.
This Google X Phone concept features a 4.7-inch 1080P full HD display. This is not surprising, and even though much of the Google X Phone is unknown, we would be surprised to see a flagship Android phone launch without a 1080P HD display in the middle of 2013. This concept features an incredibly small bezel on the sides of the device to keep the profile manageable.
This X Phone concept measures 131.2 x 66.7 x 7.9 mm. This is 5mm shorter and 4 mm narrower than the Samsung Galaxy S3. It is about as thick as the Samsung Galaxy S4.
As for the materials, this X Phone concept uses Gorilla Glass 3, which we’ve seen hold up well to scratches on the Samsung Galaxy S4. The back is a polycarbonate, which is also a feature of the Samsung Galaxy S4. This matte soft touch finish includes an Motorola logo engraved into it, according to the designer.
The large camera opening gives way to a 16MP rear facing camera and there is a 5MP front facing camera with eye tracking technology which will deliver eye scrolling. The phone will support 8.16.32GB sizes of storage and will not include a Micro SD card. Other specs include 4G LTE, NFC and a notification LED in the bottom corner. The phone will also support Qi wireless charging in this incarnation.
The Motorola X Phone rumors are all over the place including up to 20 color options and even a wood finish. We are also hearing about an always on listening mode that listens for keyword activations and an always on Chrome browser.
As for the release, the Google X Phone may miss Google I/O and arrive later this summer.
