The Samsung Galaxy S4 has officially been announced in a new color as Japanese carrier Docomo has revealed a new Arctic Blue hue that will be coming to the carrier when it officially releases the Galaxy S4 next week.

There had been rumors of a new blue Galaxy S4, rumors that it would be joining the black and white Galaxy S4 that are already on shelves. Those rumors have now come true as Japanese carrier Docomo has announced that it will start selling the Arctic Blue Samsung Galaxy S4 when it launches the Samsung Galaxy S4 on May 23rd.

The blue Galaxy S4 will be heading to Japan.

The carrier will also be offering both the black and the white versions of the Galaxy S4 which means that unlike other carriers around the world, it will have three color options to choose from. We imagine that the carrier, down the road, won’t be the only carrier with the blue version of the Galaxy S4 but it remains a possibility. Samsung has, in the past, limited colors to certain regions.

However, because blue is such a common color, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it land in other regions around the world sometime in the future.

The color is the first new color for the Galaxy S4 and it should be the first of many as Samsung likes to issue a ton of different colors for consumers to choose from. Both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 became available in a host of different shades, offering consumers a way to use something other than the stock colors.

The Arctic Blue Samsung Galaxy S4 will be the same device as the white and black models, offering a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, 13MP camera, slim and lightweight design, Android 4.2 and more. It’s a high-powered device, and one that should fit well into Docomo’s arsenal of top-notch smartphones.

The carrier will not be offering the Galaxy S4 with the Exynos 5 Octa processor however. Instead, it will be the Snapdragon 600 model, the same model that arrived in the United States.
