T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z Release is Here, With a Catch
Today at a media event in New York City, T-Mobile announced the Sony Xperia Z release date though it comes with a bit of a catch that interested parties need to know about.
T-Mobile made several bold announcements at its press event in New York City today and chief among them was a release date for the Sony Xperia Z which has been official for a number of days now. T-Mobile confirmed that the device will be available today though unfortunately for shoppers, it will only be available in stores.
Those that don’t have a T-Mobile retail store nearby or are more comfortable ordering online, will have to wait until next Wednesday, July 17th. The reason for the difference in dates is unknown but for the moment, the T-Mobile Xperia Z will only be available in T-Mobile retail stores.
T-Mobile also announced the pricing for the Sony Xperia Z, revealing that it will be charging $99.99 up front for the device, keeping in line with its off-contract “UnCarrier” pricing on its devices. Users will then need to make monthly payments of $20 over two years in order to pay off the full price of the 5-inch smartphone.
T-Mobile’s Xperia Z will be coming to the network’s 4G LTE network, like many of its other flagship devices, and it will be sporting some high-end hardware including a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, design that is both water and dust resistant, 13MP camera, Android Jelly Bean and a minimal UI over the top.
It’s a device that was originally released back in February of this year but took until now to reach a carrier in the United States. And while the device took quite awhile to arrive, it’s a device that is certainly worth a look from those in the market for a new high-end smartphone.
Just keep in mind, it won’t be available online until July 17th.
