The Nexus 7 2 is thought to be arriving at some point in the near future and ahead of its launch, it appears that its pricing has leaked out with a leaked photo showcasing a $230 price tag for the Nexus 7 2 16GB and a $270 price tag for the 32GB Nexus 7 2 which are both increases over the Nexus 7 price.
For weeks, rumors have waged on in regards to the new Nexus 7 2 and fortunately for those waiting for the device, it appears that a launch may be close with rumors agreeing that Google will either launch the tablet in July or August. Google, for its part, remains mum on the subject but it’s clear that something new is on the way.
The device is thought to be a combination of the Asus K008 and the Asus K009 which are said to be the Wi-Fi and LTE versions of the Nexus 7 2. And thanks to an FCC filing, we know that the devices utilize a 1980 x 1200 display, Snapdragon 600 processor, 5MP rear camera, and a design that looks similar to the previous Nexus 7.
It appears though that those upgrades may have pushed Google to introduce a price hike for the Nexus 7 2 as evidence procured by Android Central suggests that the devices may be priced $30 higher than the original Nexus 7.
According to the information, which appears to be captured from an inventory screen, the Nexus 7 2 will be priced at $229 for the 16GB as opposed to $200 and the Nexus 7 2 32GB will be priced at $269 rather than $250. While this isn’t a huge price jump, it’s still $30 more expensive than the original Nexus 7 price and still much cheaper than the price of the iPad mini which checks in with a starting price tag of $330.
While this is still unconfirmed, we have heard numerous times that the Nexus 7 2 would come with a steeper price tag with rumors suggesting a starting price anywhere from $220 to $250 for the 16GB model.
With July coming to a close and the Nexus 7 2 and Android 4.3 heavily rumored for arrival, prospective buyers will want to be on the lookout for an announcement from Google, which at this point, looks like it could come rather suddenly.
