New Nexus 7 Accessory Makes Official Appearance

Published

on

Google may not have talked new Nexus 7 accessories at its launch event earlier today but one of the new tablet’s official upcoming accessories has been outed thanks to the Google Play Store with a Nexus 7 sleeve making an appearance for $30.

Earlier today, Google took the wrappings off of its brand new Nexus 7 tablet, dubbed Nexus 7, which will be making it arrival next week on July 30th. The device replaces the older Nexus 7 which had been available for just over a year on the Google Play Store alongside a number of accessories.

The older Nexus 7 and its accessories have been pulled from the Google Play Store and their place, Google has not only put up a new Nexus 7 splash page ahead of its arrival, but it has outed one of its official accessories.

Google did not show off the Nexus 7 sleeve accessory at its launch event earlier today but its website is doing the talking for it. The Nexus 7 sleeve appears to be sleek form fitting sleeve that will offer protection for Nexus 7 owners whilst out on the town. The accessory is lined with padding so that it offers a ton of cushion for the tablet, something that could help negate the affects of a drop.

The Nexus 7 sleeve will cost $30 through the Google Play Store and while the new Nexus 7 is set for arrival on July 30th, Google only says that the accessory will be coming to shelves soon. We imagine that it will follow the Nexus 7 into battle though a specific date has not yet been confirmed.

This new sleeve is likely only one of many official accessories for the Nexus 7 2013 and it should be followed up by, at the very least, a wireless charger thanks to the wireless charging capabilities of the new Nexus 7.

Google has, in the past, taken its time with accessory launches so it could be a number of weeks before we see a handful of new Nexus accessories emerge on the Google Play Store.

The company’s new Nexus 7 comes with a 7-inch 1080p capable screen, quad-core processor, 5MP rear camera, sleek and slim design, and 4G LTE data speeds for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Is the implication here that the old Nexus 7 accessories are not compatible? I really want a case/keyboard combo for the new Nexus 7.

I saw the nexus 7 2013 travel cover on the Asus site. No price (yet). Nice bright new colours (from 4.3 wallpaper?).
