Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Release Could Be Bigger Than Expected

Published

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 isn’t even on shelves yet and already there are rumors suggesting the company has two Galaxy Note 3 surprises in store for buyers later on this year. While the rumors seemed a bit flimsy, they have been backed up and it looks like the company will indeed release two new models in the weeks ahead.

Earlier this month, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 3, its new flagship smartphone that will join the Galaxy S4 on shelves to battle the likes of the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5S, HTC One max and Nokia Lumia 1020. The device, as expected comes with a number of upgrades over the Galaxy Note 2 including a larger display, better camera, faux leather design, improved software and more.

The Galaxy Note 3 is headed to the United States in early October.

Samsung is set to release the Galaxy Note 3 in more than 140 countries on September 25th and in the United States and Japan come October. AT&T will kick things off in the U.S. with an October 1st release date.

Surprisingly, just a day ahead of the Galaxy Note 3 release date in countries around the world, we’re hearing that the Galaxy Note 3 could be joined by two other variants. Yesterday, in a bit of a surprise, rumors suggested that the Galaxy Note 3 would be coming with a flexible display, also known as Samsung Youm, and that it would also be coming in a cheaper form for emerging overseas markets.

Today, those rumors have been backed up by two new reports from ZNet and from Asian Daily which suggest that Samsung does have two new models up its sleeves and it will be releasing them in the weeks to come.

It appears that Samsung will be releasing a Galaxy Note 3 with flexible display in October, possibly in Korean markets, which backs up the rumors that it would be appearing in limited capacity. Samsung is likely looking to take away some of the thunder from LG, which, has promised to deliver flexible displays in 2013.

Supply chain rumors suggested that Samsung was not up to the task of mass producing flexible displays for the Galaxy Note 3, something that was confirmed when the Galaxy Note 3 was announced with a regular Super AMOLED display.

While this remains rumored, a Samsung spokesperson reportedly confirmed the Galaxy Note 3 with flexible display saying that the phone would indeed be a limited edition commodity. The device is expected to touch down in October.

It also looks like the company will be bringing a new cheaper Galaxy Note 3 with an LCD display, 8MP camera, and a different build quality. This device will reportedly arrive in November but unlike the Galaxy Note 3 with flexible display, will land in markets outside of Korea.

With October and November just a couple of weeks away, we should learn more about these two surprising versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phablet.

I wouldn’t trade my S800 for a flexible display. People, when you put your phone in a case it won’t be flexible. ….and you don’t plan in using your phone without a case right?

I don’t plan on using a case, just a screen protector. I also don’t want a flexible screen.

One of the purposes of having a flexible screen is so that you don’t need a case – since the screen is essentially unbreakable.

I don’t see how a flexible display reduces the need for a case. What about the rest of the phone?
