Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update All but Confirmed for October

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has been rumored for October and thanks to a carrier, that update is now all but confirmed for an October arrival.

Earlier this week, we heard that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update was on tap for October, something that Samsung seemingly confirmed at its Galaxy Note 3 launch event. At the event, the company announced that the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 would be receiving updates with compatibility for the Galaxy Gear accessory.

The Galaxy Gear is a Bluetooth accessory and the Android 4.3 update brings Bluetooth LE. While Samsung did not outright confirm that the updates were Android 4.3, the fact that it brings Bluetooth LE support makes it pretty clear.

Rumors backed up Samsung’s timing and today, we’re seeing a carrier throw its weight behind that timing as well, all but confirming a Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update in October.

In case there was any doubt, French carrier SFR has posted its expected timeline for several updates including the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update, an update that it expects to deliver in, yes, October. The carrier says that the timing is subject to change but this seems to back up rumors that suggested that the software would be rolling out next month.

A specific date for the roll out isn’t known just yet but we expect those details to touch down as soon as Samsung starts pushing out the update to the international version of the Galaxy S4, something that should take place in the next few weeks.

Carriers are typically a little behind the unbranded models but it looks like SFR, and possibly some other carriers as well, are hoping to get the software rolled out during October.

U.S. carriers are typically well behind their international counterparts so it’s difficult to imagine updates for the five major Galaxy S4 variants rolling out in October.

The confirmation also includes timing for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates, both of which are expected to roll out in the next couple of months. Given that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the company’s flagship, the device should see the update first, followed by the two older devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 launched in April and it has been running on Google’s Android 4.2 operating system, an OS that has since been replaced by Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which itself will be getting replaced by Android 4.4 KitKat.

Nice case, but I would recommend the Pong Research Galaxy S4 case over this. Studies conducted by numerous scientific teams in several nations have raised concerns about the possible association between heavy cell phone use and health problems. That’s why I did research and found a case that can reduce radiation exposure. In the end though, I found a couple of reviews of Pong Research ‘s cases, that convinced me to give it a try. This case is built with an antenna in between layers of the back cover, which reduce exposure to radiation. Because Pong is the only technology proven in FCC-certified laboratories to reduce the exposure to mobile device radiation by up to 95% below the FCC limit without compromising the device’s ability to communicate.
