Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Leaks Ahead of Release

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update has leaked out ahead of its release date, a release date that looks like it will land sometime during the month of October.

While Samsung hasn’t been talking about specifics, it’s clear that the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is close. For one, the company announced an update for October, one that would bring Galaxy Gear support to Galaxy S4 owners. The company did not explicitly say Android 4.3, but given its Bluetooth LE support, it’s likely.

The Galaxy Note 3 could feature an improved camera with a 13MP sensor like the Galaxy S4.

Additionally, we’ve seen French carrier SFR peg Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 software for October and more recently, Samsung Canada confirmed that it would be rolling out Android 4.3 in November. International versions of the device typically get their software ahead of the North American models.

With no specific release date in sight, some Galaxy S4 owners are likely getting antsy. Fortunately for impatient types that own the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-9505 variant, a leak has sprouted ahead of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release date.

Thanks to SamMobile, owners of the GT-9505 can fire up a test version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean ahead of its eventual release. Evidently, the software is stable and it is faster than the Android 4.2 update that currently resides on the Galaxy S4. Samsung Knox and Samsung Wallet are both on board though Samsung Wallet does not work at this time.

It appears that the software is a bit of an incremental update as it doesn’t bring any massive new features but it does apparently enhance what was already on board the Galaxy S4, making it faster and making content look sharper.

GT-9505 owners should be cautious before installing this software as it may not be the finished update. Those who are not skilled at installing firmware like this should avoid installing it and instead, should wait for the Over-the-Air update to arrive. At this point, given the information, it looks like an OTA should be coming soon. Those who do choose to install it will want to back up their files before doing so.

The Galaxy S4 is expected to get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean before the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2. The Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update is rumored for October or November while the Galaxy Note 2 is expected to get its update in November or December with Galaxy Note 3 features on board.

Carriers in the United States are typically behind their counterparts which means we could see some devices waiting until 2014 for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrades.

I know “we” shouldn’t have to spend money on already pricey gadgets but, On a couple previous phones even before samsung I had always got swifty. I tried it free , then bought it for a couple bucks. Worth every penny. Try it out. Solved my laggy keyboard problem on all 3 phones. If u like it disable samsungs.

I tried swiftkey – just as laggy. Took my keyboard 8 secs to come up so I could type this.

Sorry to hear that. I have not had any problems or experienced further lagging. I am in a reading mode so if i come across someone else or other ideas i will post in here to let you know. Hopefully the long awaited update will fix it if all else fails.

Thanks. I’ve even visited Samsung at Best Buy and they don’t know what the problem is. Probably a conspiracy to get me to get the 3. (I will)
