For weeks now, Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors have swirled, teasing consumers with possible features, launch dates and more. Nothing is set in stone just yet, particularly the Samsung Galaxy S5 design, which means that designers are still coming up with their own interpretations of the next Galaxy S smartphone.
We’ve seen a number of quality Galaxy S5 concepts surface in the past few weeks. Some of them have been reasonable, others are long shots. The latest, a concept from designer Ivo Maric, courtesy of Concept-Phones, fits into both categories.
Last week, a patent emerged showcasing what is thought to be a new form factor from Samsung. The design is more Samsung Galaxy Note 4 than it is Galaxy S5 but there were and still are those who believe that it may come with a version of the Galaxy S5. Maric’s concept is a take on the design found in the patent though instead of a Galaxy Note 4, he has turned it into a Galaxy S5.
Maric does keep other Galaxy S5 rumors in mind, however. He employs a 5.25-inch edge-to-edge display, the Galaxy S5 is rumored to have a 5.2-inch display, and he also incorporates both metal and the faux leather plastic that is found on the Galaxy Note 3. Both materials have been rumored to be on board the Galaxy S5 though not together. Like the patent, the concept does not feature a home button.
Galaxy S5 rumors point to a 64-bit processor, 16MP camera, and Android 4.4 KitKat. Samsung is rumored to be announcing a new Exynos chip at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, a chip that could potentially land inside of the company’s Galaxy S5.
The patent stirred the Galaxy Note 4 pot as well and designer Jermaine Smit took it upon himself to create a Galaxy Note 4 concept based on the design found inside the filing. Like the Galaxy S5, this Galaxy Note 4 sports a metal casing, something that has yet to appear on a Galaxy smartphone. It also features an edge-to-edge without a home button.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 rumors are scarce though they do suggest that the device could feature a three-sided display, a product of Samsung’s flexible Youm technology that is now rumored to be skipping the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Samsung is well known for keeping its designs under lock and key which means that designs will likely have a bit of time to keep bringing rumors to life. The Galaxy S5 launch date is rumored for February which means that it could be several weeks before we see a final design. Historically, designs have leaked out just ahead of Samsung’s launch events.
The Galaxy Note 4 is likely months away from launch as Samsung historically has launched its new Galaxy Note models ahead of the holidays. The Galaxy Note 3 was released in the U.S. back in October.
