Samsung Galaxy S5 Launch Date Rumor Fuels Fire

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors continue to emerge at a breathtaking pace with the latest rumors suggesting that the Galaxy S5 could emerge at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona.

For weeks now, Samsung Galaxy S5 rumors have taken center stage, teasing consumers with possible features, release dates and more. Samsung itself has sent rumors swirling thanks to a couple of announcements that it made earlier this week. The company announced its plans to bring 4GB of RAM to smartphones in 2014 while also confirming an Exynos announcement at CES 2014 in Las Vegas. Rumors suggest that the company will announce a brand new 64-bit chip at the trade show. Both features are speculated to be inside Samsung’s Galaxy S5 though that, and its many other rumors, remain unconfirmed.

Rumors in 2013 suggested that the Galaxy S5 could be coming with a handful of big time features including a large QHD display, 16MP camera, Android 4.4 KitKat, and a design that could be made out of metal, plastic, or both. Rumors have also suggested that the Galaxy S5 could arrive in late February at Mobile World Congress 2014 ahead of a release in March or April.

Fueling those rumors is new information from iNews 24, a Korean daily, that suggests that the Galaxy S5 could indeed arrive at Mobile World Congress. The assertion is based off of a response that reportedly came from Samsung Electronics Vice President of Design Team who apparently nodded when asked if the Galaxy S5 would launch at or around MWC 2014.

The report proposes that Samsung could host its own event in and around MWC to announce the Samsung Galaxy S5, a device that could replace the Galaxy S4 as the company’s flagship.

Samsung executives have been known to confirm information ahead of time so this isn’t too out of the ordinary though we wouldn’t put too much stock in a nod. This of course is the second time that we’ve heard Mobile World Congress come up so it’s possible that we could see Samsung announce the device a little earlier than the Galaxy S4. It’s also possible that Samsung will announce it after MWC, in March, like it did with the Galaxy S4.

All signs are pointing to a launch early in the year, possibly in Q1, ahead of a release before summer and Apple’s WWDC. The Galaxy S5 is expected to have to compete against an iPhone 6 and iOS 8. The iPhone 6 is rumored to have a larger display that could check in around 4.8-inches in size, much bigger than any smartphone that Apple has ever put out.

iPhone 6 release rumors span across 2014 so it’s not clear just how long the Galaxy S5 will face off against the current iPhone, the iPhone 5s.

Galaxy S5 rumors also suggest that the device could perhaps come with a metal design like the iPhone 5s. Reports out of Asia have been back and forth about the prospects but according to this Samsung executive, the company is still reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S5 design. He reportedly has claimed that the design and its materials are “under review.”

The Galaxy S5 is almost certainly in testing, an earlier rumor suggested that AT&T itself is currently testing a possible variant, ahead of launch. The company is known for keeping its designs under wraps until the very last second so it’s possible that rumors will be unable to work out exactly what the Galaxy S5 looks like until later in the year.

Samsung has one eye triained on HTC and their M7/HTC One 2014 device and release plans. They want to claim that #1 spot that the HTC One owned n enjoyed on all major polls in 2013..they also don’t want any major release gap advantage by HTC.

Good article on Samsung Galaxy S5 provides extra details on its features. I guess we

have to wait for the mwc 2014 to see what they got for their customers and fans. I have also
