Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat Release Rolls On

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat release continues today as the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update has landed for the GT-7100 in a major market.

At the end of last week, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update started rolling out for the first time. In true Samsung fashion, the roll out was limited to just one variant in one region. Those who own the GT-N7100 Galaxy Note 2 in France were the lucky recipients of Samsung’s first Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Typically, Samsung waits a week or two before continuing its Android update push and right on cue, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update has moved forward and has landed for one of the biggest markets in the world.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update has started pushing out to owners of the Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 in India. The update delivers Android 4.4.2 KitKat and it should come with the same features that rolled out to Galaxy Note 2 owners in France last week. That means the change to the status bar, a new way to switch between the default messaging app and Hangouts, performance improvements, and more.

Those who own the device in India should be able to pull the update down through the device’s settings. It also appears that the new Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is available through Samsung Kies. Samsung Kies allows users to manually pull an update by using a PC. The process isn’t as streamlined as an OTA update but it’s a preferred method amongst some Galaxy owners.

It’s not clear where the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will head next but it looks like the software is certainly poised to pick up steam. The company’s roll outs are unpredictable and usually roll out at random so international owners will simply want to remain patient as Samsung works to deliver the update to customers around the world.

Galaxy Note 2 owners with a carrier-branded device have it a little bit easier. While some carriers decline to offer details, other carriers like to keep their customers informed. In recent weeks, several carriers have confirmed Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates for arrival and have delivered possible time frames to their customers.

Australian carrier Vodafone announced that it plans to push out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update in late April or May. The carrier says that it still hasn’t received the update from Samsung for testing which puts its May release in doubt.

Fellow Australian carrier Optus says that it hasn’t received the update either though its time frame is a little bit different. It claims that it won’t release the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update until June. It, like many other carriers, does not supply its customers with a specific release date due to the unpredictable testing process.

In Europe, French carrier SFR plans to roll out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update in May. It does not provide a specific release date and May simply is a target date for customers to keep an eye on.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users in the United States aren’t as informed. While Sprint confirmed the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update for arrival its rivals, which include AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon, have yet to confirm anything at all. Sprint hasn’t said when it plans to roll out its Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Earlier this week, Sprint pushed out its Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update, a sign that it could be closing in on a release for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. American carriers never announce release date ahead of time which means that Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 users will likely be waiting in the dark as Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 update pushes on.

Look for a new design from the Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates follow in the footsteps of its Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades. The Galaxy Note 3 update started rolling out in January though the update is still far from complete. Verizon Galaxy Note 3 owners are still waiting on the upgrade and a release date remains out of reach.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update release is still incomplete as well. American carriers MetroPCS and C Spire still haven’t delivered and carriers like Optus don’t plan to push out the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update until June.

While Samsung is making progress with the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update, it’s likely going to fall in line with the timing of these updates. Galaxy Android updates typically roll out across several months. Again, the timing is extremely unpredictable so Galaxy owners of all shapes and sizes will simply need to remain patient as Samsung and its carrier partners work behind the scenes to deliver a stable piece of software.

No don’t update it will bring nothing new, may just slow your phone. Updates to old phones are designed to take away features so that we buy new ones. Best to keep your note 2 on 4.1.2.

Planned obsolescence is what that sounds like

I wholeheartedly agreed. As one who had tried installing new software updates, the new ones are not stable and screw up my phone to the point that I can’t even use it. I would stay at 4.1.2. That was the best for Note 2.
