Nexus 6 Price Details Appear

We expect to learn the full Nexus 6 price and release details later today, but a leak of the AT&T Nexus 6 shows potential information about the new Nexus.

Google is in full tease mode with the new Nexus 6 and Android L, but a leak of the AT&T Nexus 6 on AT&T’s website is probably not part of what they had in mind.

Late on October 13th the AT&T website listed an AT&T Nexus 6 for $49. The listing is still live this morning, but the link goes direct to a listing of Motorola smartphones on AT&T, not a Nexus 6 landing page.

Originally discovered by Android Police, the AT&T Nexus 6 release details remain sparse, but this is as good as a confirmation that AT&T will sell the Nexus 6.

It is possible that this price is a placeholder, which matches the $49 on contract price for the LG Vigor that is the only place you can see the Nexus 6 on AT&T’s website. After clicking the link above scroll down and look on the right to see the AT&T Nexus 6 listing. You cannot see this on mobile.

The other possibility is that AT&T plans a Nexus 6 price of $49.99 on a two-year contract. That is an interesting Nexus 6 price, especially with a big screen and a similar design to the Moto X 2014 update.

If the Nexus 6 price is $49 on contract at AT&T this lines up the off contract Nexus 6 price for $350 to $450 depending on the discount that AT&T offers with a contract. The amount varies from $100 to $450 in subsidies depending on the phone.

Assuming this is not a mistake this means the AT&T would likely sell the Nexus 6 directly to consumers. While most Nexus phones run on AT&T’s network users need to buy them from Google Play instead of direct from AT&T.

The Nexus 5 starts at $349 with 16GB of storage and jumps up to $400 with 32GB of storage. Although it works on AT&T it is only available from the Google Play store and T-Mobile.

Earlier this week the Nexus 6 leaked in full, showing off a design very similar to the Moto X 2014 model, but with a larger 5.9-inch display and new Google software. Motorola reportedly makes the Nexus 6, and HTC is also in on the game with a rumored HTC manufactured Nexus 9 tablet, teased by a HTC employee below.

Forbes reports that Google will announce the Nexus 6 today along with a Nexus 9 tablet and confirm the Android L release date details. Android L is the next version of Android, potentially called Lollipop. Originally debuted this summer the Android L release date is missing for all devices including Nexus devices. We expect that will change later today October 15th when Google issues a product announcement.

The Nexus 9 will reportedly be the first to run Android L, but Android L updates for Nexus devices cannot be far behind. Users will need to wait longer for an Android L update on Samsung and HTC devices.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Google plans the Nexus 6 release date for October, so there is a very good chance that you will see this new Nexus phone arrive on the Google Play Store in the next week or two.

With a 5.9-inch display it will compete with the Galaxy Note 4, LG G3 and iPhone 6 Plus to earn a spot at the top of the big screen smartphone comparison.

Expect to see more official Nexus 6 details arrive from Google later on October 15th. If all plays out as expected the announcement could come at 1PM Eastern /10AM Pacific, or soon after.
