10 Things to Know About the iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 Update

Apple’s iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 update is now the most up-to-date version of iOS 10. With that in mind we want to rundown the most important things iPhone 6s users need to know about the iOS 10.1 update as we push into November.

Earlier this year, Apple released its iOS 10 operating system for the iPhone 6s and select iOS 9-powered devices. The update brought key changes to the Messages app, 3D Touch, and Notes. It also brought some problems with it.

The iOS 10 beta wiped out numerous problems ahead of the release date but iOS 10 problems slipped through the cracks.

To combat some of these early iOS 10 problems, Apple’s released several bug fixers including its new iOS 10.1 release.

The iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 update squashes bugs and it also brings some new features to the former flagship device.

iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 Review: Impressions & Performance

We installed the iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 update on release day and the entire process took us about 11 minutes to complete. Be sure to set aside some extra time if you're coming from something older than iOS 10.0.2.

We've been using the iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 update for a few days now and we've been looking at a few key areas including battery life, connectivity, UI speed, and app performance. Here's what we've found during our time with the update.

Battery life is solid. We haven't noticed any drain on any of the iPhone 6s models in our possession. They're all holding a solid charge.

We've tested the iPhone 6s and its iOS 10.1 update with several ISPs, routers and Bluetooth devices and we've come away impressed. All of our connections are stable and we haven't noticed any weird drops or problems.

The iPhone 6s is extremely snappy with iOS 10.1 on board. We haven't noticed any lag when opening folders, Control Center/Notifications, or apps. The speed is about the same as it was with iOS 10.0.2 and iOS 10.0.1 on board.

The iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 update still feels extremely stable. We haven't encountered any random reboots or lockups.

Thus far, iOS 10.1 is impressing on our iPhone 6s models. It's definitely worth a look if you're already on iOS 10.0.2. If you're coming from Apple's iOS 9 update you'll want to snag a second or third opinion before making the move.
