5 Exciting Smartphones for 2017

Published

on

We’re starting to see rumors outline the most exciting phones for 2017. The early list includes the iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, and a successor to the disaster that was the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Last year companies produced some of the best phones ever made. Samsung kicked off the year with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, two excellent smartphones that are set to receive Samsung’s Android Nougat update in the near future.

The two fared much better than Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 that was made headlines with exploding batteries and ultimately was recalled around the world.

And while the iPhone 7 is considered “boring” in some circles, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are best sellers and two of the best phones money can buy.

If you’re in the hunt for a new phone in early 2016 you’ve options. If you’re looking past the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7 you’ll have some excellent choices as well.

We’re starting to hear about and see the devices that will replace the best phones from 2016. This year’s top phones are still in testing behind the scenes but we’re already getting excited about what’s to come.

Here we take a look at the most exciting phones for 2017. These are the phones that you should keep tabs on as we push deeper into the year.

The list is short but we expect it to grow as rumors take shape and companies start teasing their plans for this year.

Nothing is confirmed but Apple could be working on an iPhone redesign for 2017 with the arrival of the iPhone 8

It's still unclear if Apple will call its 2017 iPhone the iPhone 7s or iPhone 8 but it looks like the device will come with some major changes, regardless of its branding. If you weren't thrilled with the incremental update that was the iPhone 7/iPhone 7 Plus, this alone should have you excited.

We haven't seen any concrete iPhone 8 release date rumors emerge but it's safe to assume that you're looking at a launch in and around September. We should see a number of iPhone 8 rumors emerge between now and then.

According to the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will ditch the aluminum design its been using since 2012 and shift to a glass-back that was last used with the iPhone 4s.

Others, like Japanese site Mac Otakara believe Apple will go with an "iPhone 7s" and "iPhone 7 Plus" with a similar design and a new red color option. We could see these rumors go back and forth as Apple continues its testing behind the scenes.

Rumors also point to the use of a flexible OLED display, new 3D Touch, thinner or non-existent bezels, an A11 processor, and, if we're lucky, wireless charging. Reports also claim it will feature improved water and dust resistance. The device will reportedly feature an IP68 rating for water resistance and dust.

Redesign or not, this year's iPhone will almost certainly take its place amongst the years best. Its a device we have our eye on heading into the new year.
