There’s another patch coming to address the Assassin’s Creed Unity problems buyers have complained of since the game launched this past November.

Ubisoft, the game’s developers, revealed Update 4 to address Assassin’s Creed Unity problems users are reporting early this afternoon. According to a post on the Assassins Creed Unity Live Updates blog users can expect this fix to include stability issues, the Xbox One version of the game is notorious for sometimes completely crashing and throwing users back to the Xbox One dashboard. Performance fixes are also included, hopefully those are related to the frame rates that drop whenever the game automatically saves between missions. Online connectivity is getting some updates too.

That’s all the good news. The bad news is that Ubisoft won’t be getting this latest Assassin’s Creed Unity problems fix out until December 15th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. That’s next Monday, leaving users to fend for themselves all weekend. It’s even more tragic when you consider that Ubisoft is holding a multiplayer event to boost community involvement in the clans that dominate the game’s co-op.

Getting Assassin’s Cred Unity problems under control is absolutely key for two reasons. First, Ubisoft has the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise to worry about at this point. There’s no denying that Assassin’s Creed Unity went out to PS4, Xbox One and PC users in a very rough state. Some players reported not being able to get online for multiplayer. Other’s ran into consistent crashes and lock ups. If Ubisoft can’t fix these issues in time it risks hurting the franchise in a big way, next year’s game could run into sales issues.

That these problems get fixed soon is also important because Microsoft says it sold around a million Xbox One consoles during the month of November. How the numbers shake out isn’t clear, but it’s a pretty safe bet that the overwhelming number of those consoles were the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity bundle. Microsoft discounted all of its console bundles by $49, knocking the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle to $349. Some Black Friday 2014 shoppers picked up the bundle for as little as $329. Both Ubisoft and Microsoft are going to have some explaining to do if users unwrap their Xbox One consoles during the holiday season only to realize that the game they purchased with their console as a perk isn’t working correctly.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is set before and during the French Revolution. It stars Arno Dorian, a new member of the Assassin Order who is on a mission to hunt down the cast of characters who are responsible for a death that hits home. Story missions are scattered throughout Paris, France. Landmarks like Notre Dame are in the game. As the story continues, Paris descends into mayhem as players contend with participants of the revolution and historical figures. Paris Stories are small missions scattered throughout the experience. Some of them focus on even more historical figures. Others are murder mysteries, meant to add a little variety to the game.

As part of its apology for releasing Assassin’s Creed Unity in a broken state, Ubisoft says it’s giving everyone who purchased it the game’s downloadable content absolutely free. That extra downloadable content includes a new area and a story with the same characters in a new setting. It’ll be called Dead Kings and it takes place at the ancestral burial-place of French kings.

Assassin’s Creed Unity costs $59.99 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Assassin’s Creed Unity for PC players will want to make sure they update their graphics card drivers before downloading the update.
