As the year comes to a close holiday shoppers are anxiously looking for last minute gift ideas, multiple smartphone manufacturers and carriers have started announcing deals for Christmas shoppers. We’ve seen plenty of deals on the Note 4, Moto X and more, but today Verizon has revealed 50% savings on their top Android smartphones.

We saw plenty of excellent deal surface for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but many may have missed out on those opportunities so now Verizon has kicked off a new deal offering 50% off their top Android smartphones and free overnight shipping in time for Christmas.

Earlier this year Samsung released the impressive new Galaxy Note 4 on all major carriers, and eventually it arrived for Verizon Wireless. Another top smartphone the carrier is offering this week is the new DROID Turbo, a phone that many consider one of the best of 2014. Read on for more details.

The Galaxy Note 4 deals aren't as good without a trade-in, but you can still save.

So what’s the deal available this week from Verizon Wireless? The carrier has announced they’re offering 50% off all Android smartphones over $199 on contract. As in, this deal is only a discount off the 2-year activation agreement price, not 50% off the overall price of the phone. As that would be huge.

Heading over to the Verizon Android landing page you’ll see all the carriers latest Android smartphones, as well as a big banner announcing the 50% deal going on. There’s no details regarding when it will end, but it’s likely to last at least a week and possibly until the end of December.

Currently Verizon has already lowered most of the popular Android smartphones released this year to under $199 on contract, so most don’t apply for this deal. However, popular and impressive smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Motorola DROID Turbo, and the Sony Xperia Z3v all make the list. Costing $199 or more on contract, and are now 50% off.

This makes the impressive new 5.7-inch powerhouse Samsung Galaxy Note 4 just $149 with a new 2-year contract, vs the $299 asking price when it first launched earlier this winter. The 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD Motorola DROID Turbo with an impressive 21 megapixel camera and 2-day battery life has been lowered from $199 on contract to just $99, making it an excellent choice as well.

Then of course the newly announced and released Sony Xperia Z3v is also $99 with a new 2-year contract. All three of these devices are listed at 50% off, but there may be others. The pricing shown in the link above already reflects the savings announced, so choose what you’d like and get a new Verizon Android smartphone today.

Other popular devices like the HTC One M8, LG G3, and Moto X don’t meet the $199 price point, so aren’t lowered 50% as they’re already excellent deals as they are.

For those considering grabbing any of the new smartphone being offered at 50% savings from Verizon Wireless this Christmas, be sure and check out our reviews below.

Again, there’s no telling how long the deal will last so we’d recommend buyers jump on this 50% off in savings while you can. Verizon Wireless is currently the only US carrier not offering Google’s new Nexus 6, which would also meet the requirement for $199 on contract, and if it gets released users may be able to snag the same deal. We’ve yet to hear from Verizon on a Nexus 6 release date, so that’s unlikely, but a possibility.

Deals on the Galaxy Note 4 can also be found from both AT&T and Sprint this week, for those curious, so make sure you shop around and find the best deals this holiday season. Then check out our 2014 Gift Guide.
