Moto 360 2nd Gen vs Apple Watch: 5 Key Differences
Right around the same time the original Moto 360 was released, Apple announced its own wearable device, the Apple Watch. It didn’t arrive until earlier this year, but has been one of the most popular smartwatches in 2015. However, this week Motorola unveiled a 2nd Gen Moto 360, one that now works with iOS, and here’s how the two compare.
Earlier this week Google finally released Android Wear for iOS, allowing multiple current and upcoming smartwatches that run Android Wear to work with iPhone’s on iOS 8.2 and higher. This is a huge move for Google’s wearable platform, one that may have many potential Apple Watch buyers looking elsewhere. Possibly at a more fashionable and round watch, like Motorola’s new Moto 360.

Apple’s watch took a completely different approach than almost all Android watches, and stuck to a square calculator-style design, but they added a few neat software features. For one, apps are a big part of the watch, and second, the digital crown allows for total control rather than all on-screen taps. There is a lot that separates these two watches, so read on for more details.
Apple may have had a better lead on the Moto 360 last year with its huge selection of colors, straps, and two sizes of the Apple Watch, but this year Motorola did the same thing and is taking Apple head on.
Both of these stainless steel smartwatches look beautiful, feature wireless charging, and have a lot to offer. Apple’s needs an iPhone, but you can now use the Moto 360 with iOS, this is huge. Before the decision was made for you if you had an iPhone, but not anymore.
With that in mind, many potential Apple Watch buyers have now turned their attention to what’s available from Android Wear, and one of the best is the Moto 360 2nd Gen. It comes in two sizes, tons of customization, and Gold won’t cost an arm and a leg. Of course these are two very different devices due to the software, but in the end it’s all about getting information at-a-glace, without having to constantly pull out a smartphone. Both do it well, but Motorola looks better doing it. Here’s why.

Because a watch has a round design, it does not make it a better watch or a better choice. It’s simply a personal preference. The flat tire feature is dreadful and it ruins the watch. More emphasis should have been made to better implement this sensor and not make it so distracting.

I feel like the sapphire screen would have been a big pro to bring up with the Apple Watch. It’s not a option for the Moto 360. It’s worth the extra $200 to many.
