Those who just picked up the impressive new all aluminum and glass Samsung Galaxy Note 5 are likely looking for a good case to protect that 5.7-inch HD display and 16 megapixel camera. Buyers who need serious protection without a lot of bulk will want to check out our Qmadix Note 5 case review.
Being a popular device there are dozens of cheap cases all over the web for the Note 5, but after checking out a relatively new company Qmadix, I may have found my favorite case already. Called the Qmadix X series lite for the Note 5, owners will get ultimate protection without the added bulk. No, it isn’t as thin as some cases, but delivers exceptional protection and a neat design with aluminum buttons and dual-layer protection, all for a low price.
Everyone is making a case for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. However, those looking for a simple, effective, yet durable case that will get the job done, and look good doing it, will want to read on for the rest of this review.
Samsung has more than a few official Galaxy Note 5 cases and accessories for sale, and more are coming soon. However, buying a case shouldn’t involve spending $50 just to get a thin flip cover or a TPU shell. Qmadix offers the X series lite, which is a dual-layer design delivering bumper protection with a polycarbonate hard-shell cover on top of the silicon shell.
This is a design choice we see over and over again, but Qmadix added a few neat additions to this traditional dual-layer design to make its cases stand out. The first being the aluminum buttons on each side of the second layer of protection. This gives owners that same premium feel of the metal Galaxy Note 5, even if it’s covered in a case. The buttons are tactile, easy to find and click, and arn’t mushy like some cases. The buttons are usually my biggest complaint about any case, but I have no complaints on this one.
Not everyone wants a bulky wallet case, a flip case, or extremely thick cases that are really durable but more than double the thickness of their device. At the same time, many don’t want a boring and plain thin TPU case for $5 on eBay either. This is where the X series from Qmadix comes in. It fits right in the middle. It isn’t too thin, nor is it too thick, making it a perfect middle ground in terms of protection.
There are no additional functions of this case, like wallet or kickstand, and it simply just does what it’s supposed to, which is protect the 5.7-inch screen and glass edges of the Note.
The inner silicon shell has an advanced channel construction with “cushions” to prevent damage to the device while dropped. Then the sides are designed to curve over the edges of the screen to protect it, and above the bulging camera to protect the lens as well. The sides that cover the screen aren’t too long though, and it still allows for a perfect snug fit of both a screen protector, and the case. I’m using a Qmadix tempered glass screen protector as well, for ultimate protection.
Qmadix offers the X series Lite in black/black, black/red, and a silver/white for those who’d like different color choices. I’m using all black, but the red version is pretty decent as well.
Owners simply need to pull apart the two layers, drop the Galaxy Note 5 into the soft silicon rubber inner layer, then snap on the dual-layer finished hard cover. This gives the case a durable feel, finished off the buttons in Chrome as we mentioned above, makes it easier to hold, and protects the sides from drops as well.
This is all around protection that isn’t too thin, or too thick, and is simply another dual-layer case that works great. It does just what it needs to do, and that’s protect all aspects of the Note 5 during drops. Qmadix accessories are available on Amazon, or head to their website for more details.
